ACSI recognises that not all funds have the necessary resources to analyse the corporate governance issues that arise during a reporting season. So that ACSI members can exercise their voting rights both in Australia and overseas in the most efficient, effective and economic manner ACSI offers an Australian Voting Alert Service and an International Voting Alert Service.

Australian Voting Alert Service (AVAS)

This service provides corporate governance information for the top 200 ASX/S&P companies and provides subscribers with:

  • An overview or relevant agenda items at company meeting with ACSI's voting recommendations
  • A report on a range of corporate governance information based on ACSI's Corporate Governance Guidelines, which do not specifically relate to company meetings.
  • A bi-annual report on voting outcomes and summary of key governance issues both in the mini and the main Australian reporting seasons.

This service is underpinned by ACSI’s continued company engagement work and has been developed in conjunction with ISS Governance Services part of the Risk Metrics Group.

International Voting Alert Service (IVAS)

This International Voting Alert Service is available to assist our members with the execution of their voting rights in overseas markets. ACSI has appointed Glass Lewis & Co to provide its global proxy voting service. This service removes some of the perceived barriers and reduces costs to allow Australian superannuation funds to vote proxies associated with international holdings.  Our International Voting Alert Service applies the key principles from ACSI Guidelines on an international basis where relevant and provides subscribers with a complete voting package for 500 of the largest stocks in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe.  The service provides:

  • research
  • voting recommendations
  • ballot execution
  • regular reporting, including:
    • A target list of issues so that ACSI and Subscribers to the service can identify contentious meetings
    • Record keeping and bi-annual voting outcomes; and
    • Policy implementation, bi-annual monitoring of recommendations and ballot executive by ACSI
