ACSI currently has seven staff providing expertise and support to our members on a range of issues including engagement, research and environmental, social and corporate governance.
Ann Byrne, Chief Executive Officer
Ann joined ACSI in early 2008 and came from a background of superannuation/pension fund management at UniSuper - the super fund for staff of Australia’s 37 universities and Superannuation Trust of Australia (now Australian Super) - a multi industry fund created for the manufacturing sector. In 2007 Ann was awarded the Fund Executive of the Year and was a member of the board of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia.
Ann is a board member of Oxfam (Australia) and a member of the Monash University Department of Accounting and Finance Advisory Committee.
She is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a National Conveyor of 'Sisters in Crime'.
Phillip Spathis, Manager - Strategy and Engagement
Phillip Spathis is the Manager of Strategy and Engagement with the Australian Council of Super Investors (ACSI) and a partner with law firm IFS Legal.
In April 2001, Phillip was appointed the inaugural Executive Officer of the Australian Council of Super Investors.
Phillip has written extensively on corporate governance issues that impact on Australian Trustees. He is a member of the ASX Corporate Governance Council.
Phillip has a background in economics and law.
Emily Dellios, Research Officer - Environmental & Social Responsibility
Emily joined ACSI in August 2009 to develop ACSI's work in the area of E&S responsibility. Her work is primarily focused on addressing significant E&S issues which may affect long-term investors, as well as overseeing ACSI's involvement with the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI).
Prior to her appointment at ACSI, Emily worked as an Investor Relations Associate for Melbourne based fund manager, Warakirri Asset Management.
Emily holds a Masters degree in Corporate Environmental & Sustainability Management and a Bachelor of Arts (with majors in Politics and Anthropology) from Monash University. She is also undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance through Kaplan Professional, to be completed in December 2009.
Ed John, Governance and Engagement Analyst
Ed joined ACSI in 2008 as part of the Super Cadets program and was appointed to the position of Governance and Engagement Analyst following the successful completion of his cadetship in early 2009. The primary focus of Ed's role is to assist with the provision of ACSI’s Voting Alert Service and regular company engagement work.
Ed graduated from Victoria University Law School in 2008.
Dawn Loh, Manager, Research
Dawn joined ACSI in 2009 as
Manager of Research. Her responsibilities include managing the ACSI research
program on governance issues and ESG developments, as well as the annual
conference agenda.
Prior to her appointment at ACSI,
Dawn was a research consultant for companies in Australia and Asia. Her work
included ESG assessment, corporate responsibility and stakeholder management.
Dawn holds a Bachelor of Arts
(Communication and Management) and Bachelor of Business (Honours) from Monash
University.
Kim Eden, Communications and Administration Coordinator
Kim joined ACSI in July 2008 to coordinate the organisation’s communications needs.
Her primary responsibility is to manage ACSI’s communications including the website, publications, event management and branding. In addition, she also provides administration support to the CEO.
Prior to ACSI, Kim was previously based in the UK for 7 years and worked for an international oil and gas company as their Public Affairs Consultant.
Chris Panagiotopoulos, Administration Assistant Chris has been with ACSI since its formation in 2001, providing administrative support to the organisation. Her responsibilities include co-ordination of members and voting alert service subscribers, Committee of Management Meetings and the Annual General Meeting, and invoicing and payments in liaison with the accounts service provider. In addition to her responsibilities with ACSI, Chris also works for IFS Legal, as secretary to the partners of the firm.
