ACSI’s International
Voting Guidelines were produced as part of our international voting service.
The need for these
guidelines was identified since ACSI’s member superannuation funds collectively
manage over $250 billion in funds under management with at least 20 per cent of
these holdings being invested in overseas stock markets.
The
International Voting Guidelines provide ACSI members with an opportunity to
apply these guidelines when voting through ACSI’s International Voting Alert
Service and will
enable Trustees to make an informed decision on resolutions arising in
companies listed in the UK, US, Canadian and European jurisdictions.
Use of these guidelines will provide a
practical way for Australian superannuation funds to monitor governance issues
internationally and provide an opportunity for Australian superannuation funds
to enter into dialogue and build effective alliances with like-minded institutional
investors internationally.
