This guide aims to provide companies with a clear statement of the practices that ACSI believes Australian companies should follow in conducting their business, and supplement the regulatory and industry standards set out in the Corporations Act and Australian Stock Exchange Listing Rules.

The Guidelines reinforce the accountability of boards and management teams to shareholders and provide trustees of superannuation funds with a benchmark to assess the environmental, social and corporate governance practices of investee companies, in particular when exercising their voting rights.

ACSI believes that super fund interests are best served by trustees who are properly equipped to address governance issues in their investments, without seeking to 'micro-manage' these issues in these companies.
